My Father’s Story
My father, of blessed memory, was one of the most noble, generous, and kind-hearted people I’ve ever known. A brilliant mechanic and a self-taught businessman. In the early 80s, he bought into a print franchise that promised the world and delivered nothing. They wiped him out—took his life savings, his shop, and left him speechless.
The day before they came to strip everything away, my father walked outside and lifted his eyes to Heaven. He said, ‘I don’t know what to do… but I’m relying on You to get me out of this mess.’
And then the miracle came. A realtor walked into his store with an opportunity. A competitor had passed away, and my father was able to acquire an entire printing shop—outdated, yes, but filled with usable equipment—for $800.
My dad fixed the machines himself, sold one to Chicago for $4,500, and rebuilt his business with dignity, grit, and divine help. Later, he moved into real estate and built a small portfolio through effort, learning, and faith.
But when the 2007 crash hit, my father was in his mid-70s. He was tired. And there was no one offering him a real solution. He took heavy losses—not because he made bad decisions, but because no one knew how to structure a deal that truly worked for him.
That pain… it stayed with me. And it’s why BetterClose4U exists.
